Thank you for this site, I found it very useful. I have been diagnosed with this very horrid condition and am finding it very hard to handle. I have never had any eczema before but now it is on my hands and feet; I cannot walk my feet are swollen and turned purple and my hands are sore and prickly and it feels like my feet are on fire, I hate it, again thank you for this site.
Ouch Ouch Ouch! I suffer from pompholyx on my hands and have for about 14 years with it never completely going away. The least week has been the hottest so far and my hands have gone from having a few odd blisters to literally covered. My palms, all fingers and now starting to spread across the backs of my hands (a new one on me!). The hand that is constantly on my mouse is suffering the most. I now pick at it without even realising. It's starting to really control my life.
I live in Australia and used to live in the cooler southern climate of Melbourne. Four years ago I moved to Brisbane which has high humidity and the condition started on my hands. After trying all manner of potions and lotions and wasting a small fortune on the latest 'wonder' cream, I found that none of them was effective. The condition disappears during the drier cooler months but as soon as the humidity kicks in it returns. Also when I travelled to Thailand 18 months ago and arrived to stinking humidity, my hands had erupted within two hours of arriving so for me it seems to be sweat related.
Excellent website, I thought I was some kind of freak! I've had the pomp now for about 3 years on and off. I usually get outbreaks on both of the fleshy parts of my palms underneath the small fingers, but occasionally it spreads near to the thumb ie an odd blister. I used to have the odd blister on the inner side of my right foot, but this has now 'moved' to both feet. My condition has worsened since using some prescribed betnovate, and is currently the worst it has ever been.
I've just been diagnosed after a severe dose of blistering on my palms. I also have a small amount of blisters on my feet which seem to be clearing up now. Called NHS 24 as my hands were really sore and was prescribed fluxocillan which cleared the blisters. I also have a rash on the tops of my hands which don't blister and on my wrists. Also have small red spot like blotches on my legs, arms and chest. Dry skin forms which falls off leaving a red mark. Both started after a nasty throat infection. Both hands are now severely peeling. E45 and Aqueous cream applied constantly. I am going to the beach tomorrow morning to bath my hands (worth a try!).

... my blisters started ganging up on me and joined forces creating large livid red welts across the palms of my hands and fingers, meaning I could no longer hold anything knives, fork, mugs, steering wheels, you name it, and even the most simplest of tasks was now excruciatingly painful. The heat they produced could have warmed a small caravan and the intensity of the itching was just simply beyond words. After two days the prescribed steroids kicked in and the blisters were waving the white flag of surrender. And with great zeal, I watched them slowly wizen and die. Yes you guessed it, as soon as the steroids were out of my system the blisters, lumps, welts, itching, burning and stiffness returned.
I have a lot of experience with Pompholyx (now about ten years), I would like to share it. On top of having it on my feet and hands, I also suffer it in other places as my back, my inside arms. Different kinds of foods provoke the eczema (especially citric acid and wheat flour).
I first experienced pompholyx in about the 9th grade when I was 14. It started as blisters on my fingers which were moist and annoying and then spread to my whole hand. It healed within a few months. This happened again a few times over the years. Two and a half years ago I had another flare up which started out as one small itchy spot at the base of my left ring finger. This quickly spread to my ENTIRE hand. It soon became itchy, weepy, red, blistery, sore, annoying, embarrassing and everything else that anyone with pompholyx knows about. I'm STILL dealing with this same outbreak almost 3 years later. It hasn't subsided one bit.
... blister-like bumps on my finger. For some sort of reason, it's only on my left index finger (usually) and my right ring finger (occasionally). The bump doesn't hurt. Then every one or two will seem to grow and look like tiny blisters.
